Choice of the most efficacious product depends on a number of parameters:
- type of bird (size and mass);
- pressure;
- type of surface (architectural features).
The "pressure" of an area depends on its location and the exposure of the surface. It differs according to whether the surface is:
- an observation point;
- a rest area;
- a reproduction area...
We have identified different zones:
- low-pressure zones: areas where birds rest;
- medium-pressure zones: points from which a source of food can be observed (e.g. a cornice above a restaurant), sunbathing areas...
- high-pressure zones: nesting locations.
However, it is not possible to establish set solutions. The features surrounding a zone can modify bird behaviour (a windswept cornice will only attract gulls, since other birds avoid exposed places).
Observation is still the best way of choosing the most suitable product.
